Galileo called mathematics “the alphabet with which God has written the universe.” In our Catholic elementary schools, we embrace math as both a vital academic discipline and a way to encounter the order, beauty, and logic of God’s creation.

Aligned with the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards for Mathematics, our curriculum builds strong foundational skills and fosters enthusiasm for mathematical thinking. Instruction centers on:

  • Conceptual Understanding – Grasping ideas, patterns, and relationships for flexible application.
  • Procedural Fluency – Performing calculations accurately and efficiently.
  • Problem Solving – Applying reasoning, perseverance, and clear communication.

Through engaging, differentiated lessons enriched with manipulatives, technology, and interactive strategies, students develop confidence and critical thinking. In our Catholic context, math also cultivates habits of mind—discipline, persistence, clarity, and wonder—that shape both intellect and character.

We prepare students not only to excel in math, but to value it as a tool for understanding the world and serving others.
