- Types of Information Collected
We do not collect any personally identifiable information about you—such as your name and postal or e-mail address—except when you provide it to us. For example, we will ask you for personally identifiable information, such as your name, address and email address, upon your request to join our mailing list.
Our CatholicSchoolsNY.org website does collect some anonymous “non-personally identifiable” information about visitors automatically when pages on our website are requested through a browser, which we maintain only in aggregate form. This information is used only in the aggregate for statistical purposes and to help us monitor generally how guests navigate our website, allowing us to tailor our website content for the majority of visitors. Non-personally identifiable information may refer to information about our visitors’ browsers (e.g., Chrome or Internet Explorer), operating systems (e.g., Windows or Macintosh), Internet Service Providers (e.g., AOL or NET.COM), and other similar information.
Our website also collects the IP addresses you used to connect to our website as a component of the non-personally identifiable information. An IP address is a number assigned to your computer by a Web server when you are connected to the Internet. This information is generally only used for non-user-specific purposes such as determining how many users visited a specific area of our website. However, we reserve the right to use such information to identify a user if we believe it is necessary in order to resolve safety and/or security issues or to comply with legal requirements.
- How Information Is Used
The information you provide may be used by us to create and deliver to you our e-mails, mailings, surveys or other communications concerning our organization. If you prefer not to receive such communications, please see paragraph 11 below.
Aggregate non-personally identifiable information concerning your use of this Web site, such as information regarding which of our pages are most popular, may be shared with or transferred to our affiliates, licensees and partners.
We may disclose any information, including personally identifiable information, we deem necessary, in our sole discretion, to comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request.
We may retain vendors, including external companies and individuals, to perform functions on our behalf. Examples include data analysis firms, customer support specialists, webhosting companies, telemarketing companies and fulfillment companies (e.g., companies that coordinate mailings). Such third parties may be provided with access to personally identifiable information needed to perform their functions, but are bound to strict confidentiality agreements in place between them and Catholic Schools.
