Enhanced Special Education Program

Our goal has always been to secure the future of Catholic education on Staten Island and we have seen a great need for a seamless educational experience from PreK 3 through 8th grade that will welcome students of all learning levels and from all communities. The new academy’s namesake, Father Vincent Capodanno, a Staten Island resident, joined the Maryknolls as a missionary at the age of 20, went on to become a military chaplain, and died heroically while administering last rites to a dying soldier on the battlefield during the Vietnam War. Father Capodanno was an ordinary man who did extraordinary things in his life, and the Vatican’s Congregation for the Causes of Saints has officially accepted his cause for sainthood. The new name of the school will convey to our students that they must excel in every endeavor and fearlessly accept every challenge, just as Father Vincent Capodanno did.

Grades Pre-K to 8 (UPK Site # 31RAEX); Meets New York State Educational Standards; Follows Archdiocesan Essential Learning Plan; Full-time Nurse on staff; Grades Kindergarten through 8th feature multisensory reading and real life math connections to meet NYS Standards. STEM, Trout in the Classroom Initiative and Conservation Initiatives driving science curriculum, SEL, Music and Yoga to address the whole child. Extensive community partnerships with Veterans and NYPD. Welcoming students with varying learning styles. Onsite SETSS, Speech, OT, PT and Counseling available. Extracurricular activities include National Junior Honor Society, Altar Servers, Chess, Drama, STEM, CYO Sports and more. Before and Aftercare available.

Founded by the Sisters of Charity in 1959, Our Lady of the Sea School is dedicated to all student’s growth in faith, academics, personal awareness, social interaction and future success. Through diverse classroom instruction, teachers strive to instill strong Christian values, a desire to learn, the ability to meet challenges and a rich understanding of the world.

Grades Pre-K to 8; Our Lady Star of the Sea offers a rigorous curriculum from Pre-K (3 and 4 year olds) to grade 8 in a fully air-conditioned building. Our enrichment programs include Art, Music, Computer classes, for all students, as well as Spanish for grades PreK to 5. We have a very active chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. Our students are invited to participate in STEM programs such as Bricks for Kidz Stem program for grades K to 5; Super Nova Stem Program for grades 5 and 6, and the SOLE program with St. Joseph by the Sea HS for students in grades 6-8. In addition to a fully equipped technology lab, we have Chromebook deployment from grades K to 5 and in grades 6-8 we utilize iPads for all subjects. At Our Lady Star of the Sea, students have the opportunity to become involved in Social Justice Issues within our community. In order to keep our students safe and healthy we have an ADAPP counselor is available 3 days a week, a full-time Department of Health Nurse and 2 full-time security guards. We also offer a fully inclusive sports program.

St. Anthony-St. Paul School has created and maintained an educational system that is highly respected for its academic excellence. The Mission of St. Anthony-St. Paul School is to provide a high-quality, educational experience that enhances each child’s spiritual, emotional, intellectual and social growth. Our faculty and staff prepare our students to become future leaders and responsible stewards of God’s creation. The St. Paul School campus in Valley Cottage serves students in Pre-K3 & 4, and Grades K through 2, while the St. Anthony School campus in Nanuet serves students in Grades 3-8. BOTH Campuses offer UPK and the Archdiocese of New York Enhanced Special Education Program.

Grades Pre-K 3 through 2nd Grade are served through our St. Paul School campus in Valley Cottage; K through 2 have Religion, ELA, Math, Social Studies, Science, Music, PE, Art and Spanish; After-School Care is available; Grades 3 through 8 are served by our St. Anthony School campus in Nanuet; Religion, ELA, Math, Social Studies, Science, Music, (keyboarding) Art, Spanish and Physical Education;  Science Lab and Library; NYS Certified Teachers; Math 9 (Algebra 1).

St. Frances de Chantal School develops the potential of each student, both academically and spiritually, through a variety of intellectual, creative and social challenges and opportunities. We have made great strides in integrating technology into our curriculum. Grades 3-8 will have use of a personal chromebooks to use in the classroom.
