Serving its community since 1929, under the direction of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion, Our Lady of Mount Carmel School provides a strong academic curriculum centered in a community of faith. Dedicated teachers and a large volunteer support staff, together with alumni, parishioner, community and parental support, all contribute to a safe, caring environment in which your child can learn and grow.
School At Glance
Grades PreK-3/4 to 8; AdvancEd Accredited; Follows New York State and Archdiocese of New York Guidelines; Core Curriculum; Algebra offered to select 8th grade students. Enrichment programs include: Art, Music, Physical Education, Computer Education, and Library Skills; Religious instruction; Spanish (Grades K-8); Departmental Grades 6 to 8; Sports programs include Cheerleading, Basketball and Soccer; Extracurricular activities include: Drama Club, Art Club, and Band; Church Choir, Knitting Club; Before and After School programs (Latch key). Students participate in Community Service activities.
Established in 1860, St. John’s is the oldest Catholic Elementary School in Orange County. The school strives to be a Christ-centered, academically excellent, community that welcomes all and teaches students to be life-long learners and leaders, informed by a moral purpose. At St. John’s School, service is stressed as part of the curriculum.
