Notre Dame Academy Elementary School
Founded in 1903 by the Sisters of the Congregation of Notre Dame, Notre Dame Academy is an all-girls Catholic school located on Grymes Hill, Staten Island. The Academy’s mission is to advance, embody, and excel at educating girls and young women to transform society. Notre Dame provides a nurturing and academically challenging community that enables each girl to develop a sense of identity and self-confidence, preparing her to be a responsible member of her school and her world community. Admission is offered to applicants in the 2, 3, and 4-year-old programs and Kindergarten through Grade 8. Most students go on to attend Notre Dame Academy High School. Notre Dame Academy is accredited by Cognia and offers a rich and robust educational program that includes foreign language, music, art, physical education, project-based science, computer science, performing arts, religion, and STEAM courses. Mathematics and Language Arts curricula are accelerated for middle school students to allow for Algebra I and Earth Science Regents Courses in the 8th grade. Middle School electives include theater, coding, journalism, yoga, and world cultures.
Students benefit from an education where technology is integrated with instruction beginning in pre-kindergarten; one-to-one Chromebook program; Google Drive and Google Classroom; interactive boards in every classroom; Computer Science Curriculum beginning in PK3; high-speed internet umbrella over the entire campus. Extracurricular Enrichment programs include Soccer, Swimming, Track, Tennis, and Basketball; Readers are Leaders, CYO Art Show, Essay and Public Speaking contests; Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth; National Youth Leadership Forum’s Pathways to STEM; Tennis Club, Robotics, Bell Choir, Book Club, Big Sister Club, Hiking Club, Theater Club, and Girl Scouts. Bus service and a delectable lunch program provide convenience for families. There is a full-time nurse on staff. Notre Dame Academy also offers an enjoyable Summer Camp. Parent Guild events throughout the year build community and provide opportunities for service and socialization. Open House dates for the 2024-2025 school year are Friday, December 6th, 4-6 pm, and Friday, February 7th, 2-4 pm.
