On May 6, 2025, the Office of the Superintendent of Schools announced that, as the outcome of the School Viability Study, Mount Carmel-Holy Rosary School in Manhattan will not re-open for the 2025-26 school year. Click here to view our Press Release.

Students will have the opportunity to continue their Catholic education at another Catholic school in the Archdiocese of New York. We encourage parents to contact their Director of Enrollment at their earliest convenience to see how their child can continue receiving an excellent faith-based education.

Mr. Christopher Quito and his colleagues will work to help you and your child(ren) transition to another Catholic school for the 2025-26 school year.

  • Mr. Quito will also advise you on how to arrange a call or tour with the Principal of any school(s) you may be considering, to ensure that you have all the necessary information to make an informed choice for your family.

  1. Apply to the school where you want to send your children.
  • Once you have selected a school, simply visit: https://admissions.catholicschoolsny.org to submit your application. You will be required to set up a new FACTS login for the school to which you wish to apply.
  • We are committed to ensuring that your child can continue receiving a quality Catholic education. Your Director of Enrollment will assist you in this transition and help identify an appropriate school where your child can enroll for the 2025-2026 school year. We will work with you to ensure that your child has a seat at another Catholic school.

Enrollment information for the 2025-2026 school year:

  • Families who have already enrolled and paid their registration fees to Mount Carmel-Holy Rosary, and who wish to enroll their student(s) at another participating archdiocesan school will have their registration and registration fee payments transferred to their new school. These families should contact our Director of Enrollment, Christopher Quito at Christopher.Quito@archnyorg to provide assistance with their enrollments at the new school.
  • Families who have already enrolled and paid their registration fees to Mount Carmel-Holy Rosary, and who wish to enroll their student(s) at a NON-participating archdiocesan school will apply for a refund for the 2025-26 registration fee previously paid to Mount Carmel-Holy Rosary School. These families should contact our Director of Enrollment, Christopher Quito at Christopher.Quito@archnyorg for assistance in completing their refund request.
  • Families who have not yet enrolled and paid their registration fees to Mount Carmel-Holy Rosary School must submit a new application and enroll at an alternative school for 2025-26. In order to complete enrollment at the new school, families will have to register their child(ren) and pay the applicable registration fee. Families who enroll prior to June 1, 2025 will save $100 per child in registration fees.

The Archdiocese of New York is committed to making every effort to minimize the financial impact to your family as a result of this transfer.

  • New families – including those not previously receiving assistance – will have a chance to apply for financial assistance as part of their application to a new participating school.
  • Families registered at MCHR who have applied for financial assistance at CSF who wish to enroll their student(s) at another participating archdiocesan school will have their information transferred to the new school.

1. Why will my school not be reopening?

We understand that this is upsetting news, and that you may feel there could have been something more you or your school community might have done. As part of the recently conducted School Viability Study (SVS), careful deliberation, research, and analysis went into the final determination of which schools would not reopen. Unfortunately, lower enrollment has significantly impacted the ability for this school to continue operation.

2. Will I have to re-apply and re-register at the new school?

    • Families who have already enrolled and paid their registration fees to Mount Carmel-Holy Rosary, and who wish to enroll their student(s) at another participating archdiocesan school will have their registration and registration fee payments transferred to their new school.
